February 2023

Welcome everyone to our February 2023 blog posting, hope you enjoy.

I'm not saying it's windy here but, our "Joycie" is now photographing the grass, also down to rusty bottom syndrone.

don't worry though we're, working on putting her upright again

Malcolm has been trying his hand at stone carving

and we now have a beautiful house sign

Wilma enjoying the freedom of Linklet Bay

Book of the month

Malcolm and I have both read this book and loved it, have been following this man's adventure on Facebook for the last 6 years; he started in Swansea and made his way clockwise around the coast of the UK, he is now in Torquay and will finish fairly soon when he is back in Swansea.

Facebook page : Chris Walks the UK

thank you Elaine and Gary for sending us this book

Quote of the month

"You can never lose,
you either win or you learn"

Another view...

for a few days this month we left our island to travel to a very different island, Madeira, to visit Malcolm's sister.

Views over the island's capital Funchal

looking  towards the hills from Funchal

tiny lizards love cherry tomatoes on warm sunny terrace walls

watching the locals eating Madeiran-style in the Sunday market

Barb choosing tasty treats for our supper

 dried cod, a Madeiran delicacy

villages up in the hills

steep terraces

I just love this old Madeiran man making his way slowly amongst the hills, something he has probably done for most of his life.

thank you Barb for taking such good care of us and showing us around your Madeiran home and meeting your delightful friends.

and flying back to Heathrow we had amazing views over London

so totally different from flying back over Orkney to
 North Ronaldsay

~~~~~~
As North Ronaldsay has International Dark Sky status we are taking more notice of the sky and what to look out for.
This month we've started by learning about and recognising Orion,
 only another 87 constellations to go !
Thank you Alex for a very informative and entertaining evening
and something to look forward to in March
That's my weekend sorted !
Thank you Alex Wright for organising this wonderful event !
~~~~~~

Apart from the Science Festival, March should be a quieter affair.

So from Tilly cat and Wilma dog and us

we wish you happy March days

 filled with sunshine, friends and laughter

Malcolm and June
