Waiting for tomatoes to ripen is a bit like watching paint dry, at least we'll be able to eat them.

November has been a sad month for us,
as Malcolm's Mum passed away at the grand age of 94.

Clara "Babe" Purvis

💜

Only a few days before she died, Mum thrashed us both at cards even though she said she didn't feel so well
and she won £25 on her premium bonds,
 both made her very happy.

In 1950 on her engagement to Ted Purvis

💛

Mum made a completely new start when she moved to Scotland in 2015 aged 90, had a new house built
 and made new friends.

It just goes to show that you are never too old to try something new !

💚

In remembrance of Mum
if you would like to plant a fruit tree or bush somewhere this would please her immensely as she loved her garden and in earlier years was quite prolific in growing fruit and vegetables;
she would delight in the idea that these new trees would continue to give life and goodness for years to come.

💛

Babe with her daughter Barb, my late Mum and Malcolm,

all totally bonkers !!!!

💙

We would like to thank

all the staff at Isle View Nursing Home for their unending kindness, joy and professionalism over the last two years
💛

and also
our thanks to Birgit, Elna and all the staff at GAMS
for their enthusiasm and support;
💜

to the marvellous team at the
 Gairloch Community Car Scheme;
💚

to Janette and Lorna for their weekly gifts to Mum of table decorations from the Pop-Up cafe
💛

and
to everyone in the community for welcoming Mum into the area when she first moved to Ormiscaig in 2015
at the age of 90 and for making her final years so enjoyable.

Many thanks to you all.

💚

I haven't taken many photographs this month so instead I have included some quotes and pictures from the internet that may give inspiration.

The croft is looking a bit windswept,
trees are leaning sideways and so are we.

and the chickens are huddling together

the plants are beginning to die back for the winter

but some are still showing their beauty

and everything looks so crisp and white with a morning frost

frost looks amazing up close

all hairy

quite beautiful

Wilma and Tilly enjoy playing hide and seek

there can be times when it is possible for us to find a seat to sit on

Visitors to the croft

It was lovely to see Malcolm's sister, Barb, again all the way from Madeira and have our weekly game of cards with Mum.

While we were all getting ready for our Loch Ewe swim

and the military were practising their manoeuvres

Barb was busy taking some arty photos on the beach...

"apple-bobbing"

New Year Resolutions

When it comes to new year resolutions I usually like to think of new things to try or learn rather than giving things up.

You may not be thinking of new year resolutions yet
but with the end of this year and 2020 fast approaching
and Christmas shopping possibly on your mind,
why not put knitting needles or a new craft idea or a musical instrument to learn on your wanted list
instead of the usual socks and chocolate ?

Book of the month

this is an uncomfortable read but if you want to know  about the consequences of climate change read it,
it may well change the way you do things.

Website of the month

carolaguzmanacevedo.com

Last month we met Carola Guzman at a weekend workshop
in Poolewe where she introduced us to many things including "akasha" and "akashic readings",
neither of which we had even heard of before.

"The Akashic Records" or "The Book of Life"
can be equated to the universe's super-computer system.
It is this system that acts as the central storehouse of all information for every individual that has ever lived on the earth - every deed, word, feeling, thought, and intent that has ever occurred at any time in the history of the world.

There is masses of information on the internet that may interest you, even if it's only for a quick glance

BUT

having now had an akashic reading with Carola
some aspects of my life have changed amazingly !!

Thank you Carola

Idea of the month

1. go to the woods and bring home a cone
2. put the cone in a pot
3. give it a small amount of water every day
4. after some time a tiny tree will appear
5. congratulations - this just started oxygen production,
you now have a piece of forest in your own home.
