Christmas '16 / New Year '17

A belated Happy New Year to you all !

Without internet for two weeks due to stormy weather
the usual blog has been delayed
but we hope that you all had a peaceful Christmas.

The next photo is especially selected for my brother Colin
who I know will grin like a Cheshire cat at these mice.

The stormy weather however gave us some interesting times in the loch,
especially on Christmas morning !

It certainly livened up the day.

Thanks Ric for joining me
(the cameraman was getting rather wet and shaky at this point !)

Our lifeguard with back to the wind !

On new year's day the sun did shine for us for a while
( I think the lump by my bottom is a rock in the near distance)

and then turned a bit choppy

so not so much swimming, just playing in the waves

Thank you Stan Miller for the next two photos

From wetsuits to wigs, a lovely evening was had with the Zumba gang
at our "Strictly Come Dancing" night !

Thank you Janis for a great night.

Book of the month

"The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying"

the Japanese art

by Marie Kondo

ISBN   978-1-78504-044-3

A friend of mine recently lent me this book
(obviously thought I needed it ! )
and it IS amazing.

"Marie's approach will help you to look at your belongings in a new light
and encourage you to ask one simple question:
do they spark joy?
Through treasuring the things you love and letting go of the things you don't,
you'll not only create a beautiful home but find the confidence and motivation
to live the life you long for and make space for future success."

Give it a try, you've nothing to lose.

Quote of the month

"Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it "

Bon vayage to Gill and Neil who are making plans for their next adventure.

Very strange how from going to the same north London school all those years ago
that we should meet up again both living in the Scottish Highlands.

Where and when shall we meet again ?

 Wishing you luck and happiness.

And a very fond farewell to our dear friend Bryan Islip,
Wester Ross' beloved author, poet and artist
who died on 11th December
and will be greatly missed by so many.

Bryan told us that he was looking forward to his next big adventure,
we'll be thinking of you Bryan.

we wish you a peaceful, healthy and happy 2017
