September 2016

Welcome again to my blog-followers,
all three of you !
Lots of watery photos this month, just for a change !

Our guests this month were Malcolm's cousin Mike
and his wife Nicola
all the way from sunny South Africa.

Great to see you both in the Highlands.

Mike and Nicola are our fittest visitors so far
and took the hills with very heavy rucksacks,
glad that they didn't want us to join them on this bit.

Mike and Nicola were also up for the Sunday morning swim,
and as they were without wetsuits
we thought it only polite not to wear ours either

Malcolm looking cold even before he got into the water
and not very comfortable in the water !
I think Mike is only smiling
because it's the only part of his body he could feel.

The Sunday morning line up

Janette always looking happy in the water

The tide was in, the sun was shining,
the redundant pier looked inviting for jumping off of.
Funny how it looked so much higher from the top !
Deciding whether to jump or not.
And did we jump?

of course we did !!

Thanks for the prompting Jim
and thanks for the support Adrian

Just for a change one Sunday
we swam in Loch Maree, by Tollie Farm, Poolewe

It seemed strange for the water to be so dark
and not to taste of salt but made a lovely change
to our usual routine.

Thanks Jim for encouraging us to try something different.

It was great to have Rebecca come and join us
for the first time.

Hope you come again Rebecca.

(Is that the life-guard on the beach ?)

The rougher water at our usual beach

So Janette thought it a great time
to try out her synchronised swimming.

The LECSG (Loch Ewe Community Skiff Group )
have been giving taster sessions for would be rowers
now that the beautiful "Kay Matheson" is ready to go

An evening on Loch Ewe from a different perspective,
with just the sound of the oars, beautiful.

What a team !!

I'm not sure about the others but
I certainly found muscles that hadn't been used in a long time !

Thank you to Kate, Duncan, Allan and Delwyn
for all your hard work and patience, much appreciated.

If anyone gets the opportunity to go to Will and Sue's croft
in Durnamuck next year as part of open gardens,
GO !
It is amazing.

The cakes were amazing too.
Thank you Will and Sue.

Book of the month

"To Have or To Be"

by Erich Fromm

ISBN  0-349-11343-2

This is both a comprehensive analysis of the crisis of modern civilisation
and a uniquely detailed programme
for a social and psychological revolution
to save our threatened planet.

Wilma thinks it's time to settle into autumn,so maybe I'll do the same.

For my old school friends of Dame Alice Owen's in Islington
this next photo is for you.
Happy School Birthday and Happy Michaelmas Day

So until next month be happy,

June and Malcolm
