March 2021

Spring has sprung and the blossom is coming,

it looks like being a bumper year for our peach tree in our little green house

Not too much happening in the polytunnel at the moment except for tidying up, so I have been using the space to wash and dry some fleece, using the nutrient-rich water on the soil.

So I'll soon be sorted with enough prepared fleece to start using my new peg loom that Malcolm has made for me, can't wait.

The coconut-scented gorse is now coming into bloom around the croft and smells delicious.

The risk of avian flu is now over, the ruling to keep chickens and geese inside has been lifted and so Mr Cockerel is now strutting his stuff again with his harem not far behind him.

Wilma looking for a suitable place to bury her prized pig's ear, she made such a good job that it has never been found again !

and after all that hard work she made it clear that she did not want to be disturbed

Tilly always thinks it's a good idea to have a bit of rest and relaxation

This month Zara pony has been with me for 4 years and she is now 21 and is still being waited on! She deserves it.

Where does the time go ?

Around and about...

When driving around the Highlands it's always worth looking out for the wild goats and their young who are still learning road sense.

Some look rather ferocious......

even the young ones look to have attitude !

Introduction to some of our friends

This month I would love to introduce you to three of our very talented, artistic friends.

Joanna is an art teacher in Dumfries & Galloway and she has made some fabulous short videos for young children on Youtube, ranging from

 "how to draw a bike",

"how to draw a person on a bike",

 "making edible jewellery",

 "blue shadow dancing"

and two of my favourites "making a plasticine dinosaur" and "imaginary holiday".

Go to :

jocolourfilms

for some fun.

The videos are great for young people and adults too if you fancy having a go.

Thank you Joanna, wish I'd had an art teacher like you !

We meet up with Jennifer every fortnight on zoom and she entertains us all with her stories, poetry and musical talents.

If you go to her website:

www.pebblesonthebeach.co.uk

you will see that she has many other talents too !!

Glad that we have met you Jennifer.

Ailsa is also a prolific artist in Dumfries & Galloway and we get great pleasure every day from the painting she did for us a few years ago.

Ailsa has a delightful website too :

www.ailsablack.com

If you go to her website she has some wonderful free downloads to be printed for colouring in projects, for young children and adults, a lovely way to spend and afternoon.
